Introduction by Jimmy Flemion

Song 18 off of our LP "Racially Yours", is "The Flag". It was written on October 26, 1991 between 7:45 and 7:50 P.M. and completed the next morning October 27, 1991 between 8:20 and 8:35 A.M. There was a comedian named Benny Reno, I'm guessing a stage name, way back in 1976, who gave a speech on stage about how we need to live in harmony just like the black and white keys on the piano, way before Paul McCartney and Little or Big Stevie Wonder did "Ebony And Ivory". One time when we were driving with Benny in a car, we stopped in his back alley and Benny's kid came out crying to Benny by the car. Benny yelled at his kid to be a man. So much for his I love everybody speech.<br&>

Let us go over the colorful colors and meanings behind our past, present and futuristic flag : Ladies and gentlemen I give you "The Flag" :<br&>

Lyrics

Who made the flag red white and blue?<br&> Color's one thing and skin's another<br&> So brother, let's make the flag<br&> Red, white and black<br&>

Red's for the indian, also blood<br&> White's the one took us through the mud<br&> And black ain't no color at all<br&>

Who made this country? What's it stand for?<br&> I understand it stands for peace not war<br&> So brother, let's make the flag<br&> Red, white and black<br&>

They talk about an uprising, I don't know<br&> Some say rain, some say snow<br&> So brother, let's make the flag<br&> Red, white and black<br&>

So brother, let's make the flag<br&> Red, white and black<br&>

Notes

The chord progression for the verse / chorus is : E major / E 7 / A Major / A 7 (B b in Bass) / E Major / B 7 / E Major. The song ends on an E minor.<br&>

Who made the flag red, white and blue? That was, I'm gonna have to research that one. Color's one thing and skin's another. Color is color and skin is skin, but some feel the need to apply a sterotype to fit the mold and skin color model. So brother, let's make the flag red, white and black. So if we in fact believe in love and peace and harmony, let's change the colors, not only to reflect different race color but to represent a cystal blue persuasion. Red's for the Indian, also blood. Self explanatory. White's the one, took us through the mud. Mudslide slim and the blue horizon. Elecric slim and the factory hen. And everything emptying into white. It all comes out in the wash. And black, ain't no color at all. The definition of black is the absence of color. Who made this country? It appears the singer is speaking of America. Who made it, once again, I'll get back to you on that one. What's it stand for? Pride, strength, privilege, courage, freedom? Your call. I understand it stands for peace, not war. That is the composer's understanding. So brother, let's make the flag red, white and black. How's that for a color scheme? They talk about an uprising, I don't know, some say rain, some say snow. Uprisings like weather are hard to predict and forecast. So brother, let's make the flag red, white and black. A sight to behold.<br&>

The track "The Flag", contains vocals and acoustic guitar by myself and keyboards by Dennis.<br&>
