Introduction by Dennis Flemion

track 4, side 2 of the eponymous debut is entitled F'D OVER JESUS aka (you meant well) but you fucked over jesus. it was written by me (Dennis) in late '84/early '85. as to the genesis of the song- how it came to be- why i wrote it- i just remember picturing in my mind nero playing the violin as rome burned. then rome burning down below became jesus on calvary hill (near the end) with all hell breaking loose. finally the gentleman looking down from on high proclaiming "i warned you no no no" etc. kind of an "i told you so" moment.<br&>

Lyrics

i warned you no no no, i warned you don't be dopes<br&> you meant well but you fucked over jesus<br&> you meant well but you fucked over jesus<br&>

i warned them no no no, i told them that down below<br&> they meant no good when they were crossing up jesus<br&> no good at all, they crossed out jesus<br&>

i warned them no no no, i told them don't be dopes<br&> they meant no good, they fucked over jesus<br&> they fucked over jesus, watch out with jesus<br&>

nobody gets away with nothing man<br&> i don't think that anyone can<br&> except maybe sammy davis jr. can<br&>

because they fucked over jesus<br&> they fucked over, fucked over, fucked over, fucked over<br&>

Notes

one thing interesting occured during the original demo-in answer to the lyrical statement "nobody gets away with nothing man" "i don't think that anyone can." in call and response pattern i spontaneously replied "sammy davis jr. can." because, of course, "the candy man can" as sammy davis jr. and anthony newley would tell you. apparently they are the only ones NOT bound by karma. so there you have it- the nay sayer on the hill overlooking a vengeful christ (?) on the hill below HIM - "watch out with jesus" indeed!<br&>

the song was always a "rocker" live. didn't quite pull it off on the lp version though. the live arrangement on record is by d.f. (fey vocals and all). as i say- much more raucous and better/bitter live.<br&>

The chord progression for the intro to the song is C minor 9 / G Major / C minor / G Major. The chord progression for the verses is C minor / B b Major / A b Major / G Major / and then returning to C minor. The chord progression for the chorus is C minor / B b Major / A b Major / B b Major / C minor. The chord progression for the ending is A b Major / G minor / F minor / F minor 7 / F minor 6 / F minor Aug / F minor 9.<br&>

The track "F'd Over Jesus" contains bass guitar played by Jimmy-bass lines written by j.f., electric guitars played by Jimmy, drums written by dennis and played by the drum machine and double-tracked vocals by d.f..<br&>

ps. some more changing of the words occurred when performance of the song was live-- i would often substitute jesus for satan and vice versa. for example: "you meant well but you f**ked over jesus" "you f**ked over satan" "watch out with jeeeeeeee... satan"<br&>

-just another hell bent messiah/divine retribution gone wrong song that's all<br&>
